To honor the incredible legacy of (UHS & BHSN football & werestling) Coach Wayne and Jan Nichols,
a permanent endowment fund has been established in their honor at the Community Foundation of Bloomington and Monroe County.
The Coach Wayne and Jan Nichols Exceptional Effort Fund will allow the Nichols family to make annual grants
to causes and organizations that embody the values of Coach Wayne and Jan,
in particular giving children and youth a bridge to opportunities that will help them succeed and thrive in life.
Donations can be made to the Community Foundation, designated for the Nichols' Fund, online at cfbmc.org or by sending a check to:
Community Foundation of Bloomington and Monroe County, 100 S College Ave Suite 240, Bloomington IN 47404
For other types of gifts or ways to support this fund, contact Meagan Niese, Development Director, at 812-333-9016.
All gifts made to the Community Foundation are tax-deductible.
On August 6th, we will publicly announce the kick-off of this fund, at the King's Blues, BBQ & FunkFest.
The FunkFest is an annual fundraising event for the Carl Deal, Jr. Scholarship Fund, also administered by the Community Foundation.
The Carl Deal, Jr. Scholarship benefits a recipient from the Boys & Girls Club.
Carl played football for Coach Nichols at BHSN and credited him for important life lessons learned from Coach Nichols.
Co-hosted by his widow, Berit Brewer Deal, Tommy Richardson, and The Upland Brewery,
this is an outdoor event at the Upland, 350 W 11th St in Bloomington, with bands, BBQ, and Upland beverages.
Coach and Jan have supported this event each year, along with many alumni from UHS, BHSN, BHSS, and other Bloomington natives.
This is an opportunity to see Jan and share memories, support a good cause and have a great time.
For more details, you can find information on the Facebook Events page.

My husband and I moved to Phoenix in 1994, a return for me and new move for him. I am a Grandma, finally! My daughter and son-in-law presented us with a grandson this past July. The only drawback, they live in Poland. Poland is a great place to visit and not just because Theo lives there. My son lives in Denver, fortunately business takes me there monthly so I am able to see him frequently. Still working for "the phone company", love my job. My husband, George, retired four years ago. Will see what I end up doing, the Theo tug is pretty strong! Best to all of you.|
