01 May 2024 With the help of the recently released 1950 Census data, we find that the following members of the Class of 1957 have died:
John Franklin Crouch, of Shelbiana, Kentucky, February 1, 2023; 1st grade only.
Jacob Eugene Hall, Bloomington, October 24, 2023; 8th grade only.
Jason Lee Hillenburg, Sr, Bloomington, January 27, 2014; 7th grade only.
Sandra Sue "Sonnie" Landreth Crouch Condon, of Sarasota, Florida, September 2019; 7th through 11th grades.
David Loy Mesarosh, of Lancaster, California, November 23, 2022; 8th grade only. He changed his surname to Mitchell.
Eddie Gene Price, Bloomington, December 16, 1998; senior year only, but not in graduation program.
Michael Joe "Mike" Smith, September 15, 2002; 8th grade only.
Carol Sue "Susie" Summers Barnhart Pritt, April 1995; 7th & 8th grades.
05 Feb 2024 Ann Marie Goby died in Palo Alto, California, on January 24, 2024. A Find-A-Grave page has been created, with an obituary.
06 Aug 2023 Charles Alfred Barnhill died in Bloomington on July 31, 2023. A Find-A-Grave page has been created, with an obituary.
24 Mar 2023 Libra Jan Cleveland Gysel, of Atlantic Beach, Florida, died February 6, 2023. She started at U-School in Kindergarten in '45-'46, with the Class of '58. By 1948, she had moved ahead one class, and was with the Class of '57. She moved ahead another grade during high school, and graduated with the Class of '56.

11/28/11 NAPLES, Fla. — David Wayne Foster, of Bloomington, IN, currently residing in Naples, FL, passed away Sunday, November 20, 2011. He was a veteran of the United States Army. He was a member of the Indiana Historical Society, Jaycee’s, Kiwanis, Boy Scout Council and Eagle Scouts. David served as a Greenwood City Councilman and volunteer police officer. He also served as a Monroe County Historical Society Board Member. He was an avid genealogist, gardener, collector, and enjoyed bocce ball. Survivors include his wife, Karen K. (nee Sims) Foster (UHS '57); his 4 children and stepchildren and their spouses; brother, Gary Foster; sister, Carolyn Sexton (UHS '50); sister-in-law, Janet Foster; six grandchildren; and beloved dog, Barney. In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his brother Don Foster (UHS '50).
8/13/11 Maude Elizabeth (Richardson) Reynolds of Bloomington passed away on Thursday, July 21, 2011. Maude was born in Bloomington. She was a member of the Shiloh Pentecostal Temple. Maude worked at CE Richardson Excavation, Ladyman’s Cafe, Mays Greenhouse and the South Indiana Conference of United Methodists. She had a love of painting. She was preceded in death by her brother, Melville Richardson; sisters; Dorothy Lammey, Barbara Noys, and Phyllis Naylor; and one nephew. She is survived one son; two grandchildren; brother, Charles E. Richardson of Bloomington; sisters, Wilma Fiscus, Peggy Krebbs (UHS '59), and Alice Whitlow, all of Bloomington.
12/08/08 SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, Calif. — Nancy Ellen Thayer Liao passed away on November 9, 2008. Nancy was a brilliant and highly accomplished woman. She began music training in her hometown of North Vernon, Indiana. She went on to graduate with a Master’s degree in piano performance from Indiana University, under the illustrious Professor Walter Robert. Nancy was a selfless person and always gave more than she could to charity and family. Nancy is survived by her three children; three grandchildren; and two brothers.

Robert J. (Bobby) Dodds of Bloomington, passed away December 5th, 2008. He was devoted to his grandchildren, which were the love of his life. Robert was also an avid coin collector and wood worker. He also enjoyed going the Monroe County YMCA and playing volleyball at the Banneker Community Center. Robert graduated from University High school in 1957 and enlisted in the United States Army. After the returning home from the Army, Robert continued on in the Army Reserves and worked for Otis Elevator, where he retired after 35 years of service. Robert leaves behind his wife of 50 years, Roseann (Stidd) Dodds of Bloomington; three sons; one daughter; four sisters, Peggy (Frank) Martin of Summerville, SC, Mary (Paul) Foster of Gosport, Colene (Dale) Allenof New Smyrna Beach, FL, and Linda (Joe) Fenley of Louisville, KY; and one aunt. Robert also leaves behind six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Jim Dodds; three sisters, Ruth Weddle, Patricia Oliver and Joyce Miller, and one granddaughter.

9/30/05 David Foster reports on reunions: "We have 2 breakfasts scheduled for the month of October. One is scheduled for Friday the 14th at 9:00 am at Opie Taylor's on North Walnut Street. This will allow us to visit with those who are leaving for winter quarters before the end of October. The second breakfast is scheduled for Friday the 28th also at 9:00 am at Opie Taylor's. People who are coming into town for the all class reunion will have a chance visit with us. Thanks go to Bob Wylie for reserving those date with the restaurant.
3/15/05 A telephone call from the family tells us that Glenna White Eveland of Terre Haute passed away yesterday, March 14. John Eveland adds in an email that there is an online guestbook at www.debaunfuneralhomes.com and that a full obituary notice will appear there in a few days.

10/01/02 Bob Walden writes: Just returned home from our 45 reunion. Really enjoyed the get togethers and seeing everyone. I hope that more of our classmates can attend our 50th, and look forward to going. Thanks for the web page. Didn't know one existed until the reunion. I plan on passing it along to my brother Bryan (class of 62) and sister Beverly (class of 55).
9/1/02 James Terman writes: Unable to attend 45th reunion of Class of '57, but was in Bloomington in May, 2002 and met with several classmates for breakfast. It was great! Would like to hear from classmates and any UHS friends.
